Excimer laser

The Excimer laser method is a widespread method used in the treatment of refractile defects such as myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism.

Two techniques are currently used in Excimer Laser treatment

1. Surface treatments

(PRK-LASEK)

2. Treatments carried out in deeper areas (LASIK)

Eyelid aesthetics

Eyelid aesthetic surgery is an operation performed on the eyelid, especially when there is excess skin. This means that over time, the eyelid skin may stretch more than it does, either due to genetic factors or during the wear process.

What Is an Intraocular Lens Implant?

An intraocular lens implant is an artificial replacement for the lens of your eye. It's part of the surgery to fix cataracts.

How Your Eye Works

Each eye has a lens -- a window made of clear protein and water that sits behind the pupil. The lens focuses light onto the retina, which sends it to your brain.

As you get older, the proteins change and parts of your lens turn cloudy. This is known as a cataract. It can make things look blurry or give them a brownish tint.

Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness, especially in older people. But they can be corrected through surgery -- a procedure that's done more than 2 million times a year in Turkey.

The implant

An intraocular lens implant, or IOL, is made of a clear plastic, and it's about a third the size of a dime. There are several different types:

Monofocal IOL

This is the most common. Unlike your natural lens, which can stretch or bend to help your eye focus, this implant stays focused at one fixed distance. If yours focuses at a distance, you might be able to see things far away but need glasses to read or see close up.

Multifocal implant

Like glasses with bifocal or progressive lenses, this lens has areas that help you see things at different distances. It could take several months for your brain to adapt so your vision seems natural. It can sometimes cause more halos or glare around lights than a monofocal lens.

Accommodating IOL

This flexible option acts more like your natural lens and focuses at more than one distance. It makes you less likely to need reading glasses.

EXCIMER LASER

LASIK is the most commonly performed laser eye surgery to treat myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. Like other types of refractive surgery, the LASIK procedure reshapes the cornea to enable light entering the eye to be properly focused onto the retina for clearer vision. The word "LASIK" is an acronym for "laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis." LASIK surgery is essentially pain-free and takes only about 15 minutes for both eyes. The results — improved vision without eyeglasses or contact lenses — begin immediately after the procedure and vision usually continues to improve and stabilize over a few days.

How is LASIK surgery performed ?

Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE). No corneal flap is made here. By the femtosecond laser cuts a disc (in the shape of a contact lens) loose in the cornea. This disc is detached by means of a femtosecond laser. The cornea above this slice remains intact. The thickness and shape depend on the strength to be corrected. This disc, called a “lenticule”, has a diameter of about 6-7 mm. This disc is removed from the cornea using tweezers via a small side wound (pocket incision). The 'empty space' or pocket is rinsed with a saline solution.

Personalized treatment

A treatment with Femto Second Laser is a personalized treatment method. Our device, ALCON WAVELIGHT EX500 Excimer Laser, which is used in the treatment, consists of a combination of two devices, which corrects many eye defects and in 6 seconds. Creating the flap with a laser beam instead of a knife is the most reliable method that minimizes the risk. Personalized incisions also ensure that surgery is completed with excellent results and great success in our high myopic patients. Femto Second Laser is a painless procedure and allows you to return to everyday life the next day.

EYELID SURGERY

EYELID SURGERY

Eyelid aesthetic surgery (blepharoplasty) is the process of the removal of the excess muscle and skin tissue in the upper and lower eyelids and tightening of the supporting parts around the eye. With this surgery, sagged upper and lower eyelids, bags due to excess fat, wrinkles around the eyes are corrected, and the old, tired appearance of the person is transformed into a younger and more dynamic appearance.

Aesthetic eyelid surgeries are applications which are usually required after the age of 35; these are surgeries which surgical risks are less and results are remarkable. It can also be applied at younger ages in people with irritating bags at eyelids due to hereditary reasons.

The position of the eyelid muscles of people who will undergo eyelid aesthetic surgery should be evaluated well. If there is also a droopy eyebrow in addition to eyelid aging, eyebrow lift surgery should also be considered. After eyelid aesthetics surgeries without eyebrow lift, the eyebrows may fall further and prevent positive aesthetic results. The need for blepharoplasty may be eliminated in some people by lifting eyebrows only because the upper eyelid is stretched.

How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?

Blepharoplasty lasts 1-2 hours in general. Following anaesthesia, incisions are made along the natural lines on the upper eyelids and just below the eyelashes on the lower eyelids. Through these incisions, the skin is separated from the underlying fat and muscle tissue. The protruding adipose tissue is straightened and excess muscle and skin tissue are removed. Previously, the adipose tissue extraction was performed in almost every surgery. However, as it has been accepted that aging-related contraction of adipose tissue increases the eye hole, giving the person an older appearance, it is aimed to preserve the adipose tissue as much as possible in modern surgery. Then, the incisions are closed with very thin stitches. If there are fat-muscle bags in the lower eyelids without excess skin, an incision is made inside the eyelid without leaving a visible scar. It is usually applied in younger patients with more elastic skin.
